How to advertise your business
Well today was our first farmer’s market of the summer season. Farmer’s market and embroidery? ? ? Those two don’t mix. Do they? Yes they do, actually. Farmer’s markets aren’t just for fruits and vegetables. If you’re looking for a low cost, effective way to get your name out in your community, take a look at the nearest market for available spots. This is our first adventure into our local community so, we decided to give the farmer’s market a whirl.
Even though attendance was low (first weekend and cold temperatures) we sold quite a few items and hopefully have a few more leads that will bear fruit.
We are learning we need to have more product samples and an avenue to showcase the designs we have to give people the full breadth of our selection. That’s not always the easiest thing to do considering we have thousands of designs.
So here I sit, pondering a way to catalog our designs in a way that allows people to see what we have in such a way as to ignite their creative motor.
Some of the best advice I can give, what we are learning the hard way, is to have a simple but effective way to showcase your talents. If you have long list of products that you offer, you will need a quick way to show the world, as you obviously can’t have a product for each one of the thousand different ideas or designs you may have. Some folks call this an elevator speech. A 60 second presentation of who you are, what you can do and why someone should enlist your services. Short, simple, to the point but powerful.
We are thinking of creating a catalog of design thumbnails that we can print. This way people might see a cute design we have and actually make their own product right there on the spot. You might just get lucky enough to let them create while you are simply acting as the mechanism to turn their vision into a reality!
